Camp Chill Check-In! Third Week

Time flies, doesn't it? Later today we'll get the last wave of prompts. I thought it would be good to again make some time for reflection, and I encourage you to look over what you've got so far. Look for the good stuff, for what you like and are proud of.   I encourage you to share the article you're most proud of writing this month in the comment section of this journal post, and tell us a bit about why too! If you have the time, do check out a couple of the articles other people have shared here too.

Camp Chill Check-In! Two Weeks In

We're almost halfway in, and I've definitely been feeling it. It's time for another check-in now that we're properly in the groove. Summer Camp is a marathon, not a sprint, after all, and it's important to check in with ourselves and see how we're holding up.   As for me, I'm working on a more complex organization article, and writing some shorter ones in-between, and that's been working well for me. I've thought about maybe scaling my own goal down to copper, but I want to give it a bit longer before I make the final call. Knowing that the option is there helps make it feel less overwhelming. Other than that I'm spending a lot of time out in the sun on our balcony, and enjoying some good food. What are you doing in between the writing?   The next batch will be the Relic prompts, and I'm especially excited for this one! It seems like it'll be a lot of fun. However, now that we're two weeks in, I'd love to talk about support. I'd love to hear how things are for you, but I also encourage you to share a bit about what you do to keep your head in the game, and how you rest up in between writing sessions. Do you have any advice for people who might be finding it hard? What about advice for yourself?

Camp Chill Check In! One Week In

We're exactly a week into July, and I thought it might be nice to check-in. How are you holding up? Challenges like Summer Camp can be intense. How has the first batch of prompts been for you?   I've written two articles myself, which means I'm a bit behind on what I'll need to hit Silver. Ideally I'd have written four or more articles this week. Things are rarely ideal. It's just the first week, and there's plenty of time for things to change. Music has been great for me this time. Listening while writing, or while relaxing and daydreaming. My progress might be slow, but I'm happy with what I make and happy with where I am at. Are you keeping up with your goals? What are you doing to support yourself, and how is it working for you?   Tomorrow we get the next batch of prompts, the Frontier Prompts. I'm excited to get some more prompts to work with. I invite you to share a bit about how Summer Camp has been going for you. How do you feel about what you've written and made so far?

Welcome to Camp Chill!

The eve of Summer Camp is upon us. In no less than ten days from now, July will start, and we'll get our first wave of prompts. Are you as excited as I am?   I want to introduce you to CAMP CHILL. Camp Chill is about sustainable Summer-Camping, preserving our joy, and having a blast together. You can pledge for any badge you want and still be Camp Chill. We've all got our own pace!   Camp Chill started up last year, with a set of guidelines written to help people enjoy a Summer Camp where the fire stays lit all month. We're bringing the s'mores, the ice cream for when it gets too hot, fire extinguishers for potential burnout, and we pledge, above all, to have a good time!
If you want to join up, all you have to do is decide to join! A lot of people have chosen to add the awesome badge Rin Garnett made to their pledge or elsewhere on their page. You can do that too by using the [img:4574878] or [imgblock:4574878]. It's not required, but c'mon! It's a badge! Who doesn't love a badge?
I'll share the camp chill tenets below, as some final food for thought
  • Remember the prompts are suggestions, not requirements.
  • Write what you're passionate about, leave what you aren't.
  • Relax when you feel tired.
  • Fight off any pesky brain-squitos trying to make you doubt your work.
  • Don't abandon your non-summer camp goals! Write that article you're itching to write, even if it doesn't fit any prompts.
  •   So, how about you? Will you be joining Camp Chill? What's your Summer Camp goals? What are you going to do to rest and recharge during July?   #CampChill
