Greenglimmer is coming to a close! My estimate is that the book will end at the end of October or early November. Then I'll be taking a break and begin Windtwist Isles late December/early January. Windtwist Isles will run here at WA, same time, same day, and as usual, it is free to read!
Lorgan has tracked Laken's next limb to the Windtwist Isles, an island chain between Uka's Lament and Fading Light continents. It is known for its terrible winds and storms, but also for its scintillating beaches and wondrous aquatic life.
The largest isle is home to Mera and Tally's extended families, and they are eager to visit and catch up. But not all is happiness when they arrive, and they find themselves working to fix a devastating family problem that threatens their relationships to their loved ones.
On top of that, they need to help the mini-Joyful figure out how to retrieve Laken's essence--one that sits at the bottom of an ages-old ocean whirlpool.

So I thought I needed a new USB cable for my pen display. Nope. It worked fine for a week, then this morning, Windows claimed the USB malfunctioned and wouldn't recognize the display--the same error I had before. USB flash drives have the same error, too. Windows claims the USB ports are working perfectly, but if they won't read anything, how can they be?
I'm troubleshooting, but this sucks.

So excited to see where the next installment will take us (because, as a pantser, it's a ride for me, too!). Lapis and Patch become chasers for the new governing coalition; not only do they have enemy stakes to catch, they must navigate life after the fall of the empire, where uncertainty and desperation abound.

I am in the midst of final edits for my new Wellspring book. I thought I'd have all this done in May, but it's September, and a rotator cuff injury has done its job in putting me faaaaaaar behind. This has affected my updates of my worlds, articles and the like. I know everything will get done when it gets done, but *sigh*.
And the tree I was helping cut down when I injured myself is regrowing, because of course it is. Battle to the death! (or at least, battle until we can get the stump out of the ground. Not all fights are epic).

And, as with every update, the reminder that my father is in hospice, and when he passes, all my timelines will probably be thrown out the window. The uncertainty of it all is so stressful.

This evening, however, I want to level with you all. , and you don’t have to read this, but if you do, I’d really appreciate it.
I’m having a love-hate relationship with WA right now, and I finally came to terms that I just don’t understand certain features needed to thrive.
I’ll be honest; I am not exactly skilled in self-promotion. In fact, I’m the complete opposite of an entrepreneur. But I do honestly respect and appreciate peer reviews and feedback from readers . Not being able to talk to you all is bumming me out hard, and I realize that to only way to do better is to try something else.
I’m working on a Discord Server for Temperantia Chronicles, so that we can build and grow our community. I honestly didn’t want to ask you all to hop over to Royal Road.
Aeon, on World Anvil, currently only has 1 Esperit. I’m worried that the server won’t work if we barely have followers. So now, I ask you.

Okay so first things first, belated articles from Week One of #SummerCamp25
An infamous prison that has a bloody history and a very quiet (but still unpleasant) present.
In happier news, perfume.
I'm off to a slow start but that's fairly normal for me, because I spend a lot of time doing like... support for stuff I didn't know I was going to write. For example, I'm about to start an article about a character with a bunch of kids, but first I had to figure out what he looks like, and then I had to figure out where he is, which then led me to doing a major CSS overhaul of the maps (not done yet, but mostly functional) and now that that's more or less in place...
Now I can write the article.
Anyway, as usual, focusing on my #DarkFantasy world, but I'm still looking for an excuse to touch on my more bright and shiny world as well. We'll see if I can find one.

Summer Camp Update!

Summer Camp has been an absolute blast so far; in one word: AMAZING!
I've been using this creative chaos as the perfect excuse to dive deeper into my dark fantasy, post-apocalyptic world: Crux Umbra. If you've mostly been following me for Kena'an, you might’ve noticed fewer updates there lately, but don't worry, it’s not forgotten! I’m just wandering through ash-covered ruins for a bit.
So far, I’ve written 9 articles, which means I’ve hit the first milestone and earned that shiny Copper badge! My official goal is Gold, but between us... I'm quietly chasing that sweet, sweet Diamond!

How's everyone's summer camp going? I've written articles, but they need a bit of CSS before publishing. So far I have something on Qira's Stink Smell, the Meint Clinics, and the city of Evening, with plans to write about Flame martial artists who were also dragonpriests, Rakan noodles, and a haunted building. There are a few prompts this time I'm like ¯\(o_o)/¯ but I'll come up with something (symbiotic relationship, eh?).
I hope I can get my CSS on and publish something before tomorrow, but I always get behind during Summer Camp and rush in the last week to get articles completed.
I've decided to dedicate this Summer Camp to my father, who is slowly slipping away and may not make it past July (we'll see). It's a mixed bag of feelings, and we'll see how much of that makes it into my articles (it's definitely made it into my serials).

Then on to the next big story arc in the series. Re-cast (working title) begins The Chaser Chronicles, where Lapis gets to chase bigger stakes for a bigger cause.
I'll probably redesign the first four book covers too, but that will happen after I get more promised artwork out there.

I'm probably going to go with a sweeping landscape with tiny figures, coinciding with the epicness of the plot.
And I'm now enchanted with the possibility of using Gaea for map purposes. We'll see if I stick to my original idea, or go with that.

Sikode's dreamed of becoming a dragon companion since childhood, and Shiobe's knowledge of dragon lairs will help him successfully traverse the dangerous trials found in the Abyss. Unfortunately, bloodmages stalk the communities in the lair's shadow, their interest in the lair suspect. Shiobe and Sikode need to find out why, before his bid, and the Abyss, falls victim to their bloody plots.

Well, I needed a break from sketching khentauree, because my drawings are not what I want. Feeling discouraged, I decided to draw a scene with a city in the background, something that still terrifies me because I don't think I draw buildings all that well.
Anyway, this is what I did.

My father was supposed to have a quick procedure done earlier this week. Instead the surgery went wrong. While it didn't go as wrong as the doctors originally thought, he's still not in great shape. Worry made being creative a struggle. I finished the chapter (yay!), but it changed a lot from what I had in mind because I realized I couldn't write it that way.
Yeah, it's interesting how things outside artistic and writing processes can drastically influence them. Because of that, I don't have much more to add than my Rituals of Renewal article. I had planned a bit more, but that will need to wait for a later update.
Check out the Dance of Flame. It's part of the history of Likeda, one of the habitations where my upcoming book, Abyss of Dreams, takes place.

Crux Umbra awakens!
Hey everyone!
A few months back, I began building Crux Umbra; a dark, post-apocalyptic world shaped by shattered magic, desperate survivors, and monsters. It was a slow process but I wanted to let you know, I’m diving back in with full focus, and I’m excited to share more of what’s taking shape.
There are currently 8 articles live (with plenty more on the way), covering the basics from the broken mages who tried to end the undead, to survivor factions clawing for control of the ruins. This world blends survival horror, character-driven storytelling, and grim hope, where even the worst of monsters might find redemption… or something worse.
I’m working toward writing a novel, and eventually adapting the setting into a custom RPG. If you like stories about desperate choices and fractured loyalties feel free to follow along.

Here's a peek at what I've been working on this past week; the book promotion page for Abyss of Dreams. It's not quite done, so hence a peek. There are things I need to change (like I'm not happy with Rien's pic) but it should officially be up soon.
All artwork is composites. I really want to draw the pics, but I've been told more realistic stuff sells better. The thing is, I think that's more romantasy than epic dark fantasy. I've seen more and more current book releases where the covers are dark, kinda gritty, with painted landscapes rather than, say, guys on thrones with swords. We'll see what I finally decide.

Rushing to catch up on all the art stuff I need to get done this month. Here's a peek at what I've been working on for the Abyss of Dreams release. It's a composite of several snowy mountain photos and three different skies, and while I like the dreamlike quality, I'm not quite happy with it. The left peak is Kiune, the right Majari, and deep within the earth below them rests a dragon's lair. I'm creating quotes and working on the map (which is not going as easy as I wish it would).

I'm looking for heightmap/terrain generator software. I'm not as concerned about price as I am about quality (though I can't afford something like Houdini. I keep thinking 2D art apps are spendy but 3D has them beat). I've read about several, including Gaea, Blender, Terragen, World Machine, World Creator, etc etc. Anyone have a program they use and like?

Other than that, I've been wondering how I'm going to handle both Greenglimmer and Broken Dulcet coming to an end at the same time I'm releasing Abyss of Dreams. It looks like that's what's going to happen. I had planned to take a month break between the end of the books and the beginning of the next, but I might have to extend that. We'll see how this all turns out, because pantser me doesn't know.

I'm also a little concerned. I was planning to do a paperback through Amazon, but the quality is not where it should be. It seems more and more authors I know are getting proofs or author copies from them that are water damaged/torn/bent/ etc. Then there was the incident where an author got her author copies and while the books had her cover, the interior was Mein Kampf. D:<

Well, this week was a strange week. I've known about LibGen, a pirate site for books, articles, etc., but a lawsuit against Meta revealed they used it to train their AI on. The Atlantic has an article on LibGen, where people can search their name and see if their work is in the database.
My books are not (yay!) but my honey's PhD thesis, his book, and most of his 100+ articles are. It's horrible to find out your stuff's been stolen to train an AI you neither gave permission for, approved of, or benefitted from.
The amount of academic work in the set should terrify people; we already have a problem with unscrupulous scientists writing fake papers (publish or perish, y'all) and clogging up submissions or actually getting the false information printed (not as hard, if they pay a predatory journal). This leads to horrible outcomes, like medical researchers following a false lead that takes ten years to disprove, all the while the team could have been researching legit ideas. it's a waste of effort and money, leaving the sick to suffer. (If you want to know the quality of this stuff, check out the rat penis paper).
Wonder how much Meta paid to access that treasure trove of stolen materials. Wonder if Elsivier is going to sue. That'd be fun.

My arm's getting better, but not quite up to art. I guess that's a good thing; something's bugging me about Wellspring Book 4's ending, and I'm rewriting it (over and over). I hope it clicks soon!
Anyway, I'm changing titles again. Book 1 will be Liminal Shadows, Book 2 Shades of Treachery. Book 3 will stay The Glass Volcano. And we'll see if people will buy the paperback.

Last Sunday I was helping my honey cut down a tree our HOA hated, but that we and our neighbor had no problem with (they liked the shade, and the HOA said they didn't care). Carting branches tore my rotator cuff on my right arm--the arm I use to draw. It's been a week filled with pain, ice packs and heating pads (I'm allergic to ibuprofen, so the usual ways to get swelling to go down are not viable for me).
Beginning to think 2025 doesn't like me very much.
Anyway, special artworks and the like are on hold until I'm healed. I'll still be publishing chapters, but probably not much else (typing hurts). Evenacht Snake's Den hit 200K views (!) and I'll do something special for that, too, once I'm better (which can be weeks, I'm told D:).

I finished my judging for WorldEmber but I haven't gotten to the reading/goals Jan challenge. Basically, my father had a heart attack in December, I've been planning the trip to visit him while watching the LA fires and hoping we don't have to evacuate. It's been a bit stressful and not conducive to much reading (or writing, but I plowed through).
I'll be leaving tomorrow to see my dad. I still plan to publish the next Broken Dulcet
chapter next Friday, but depending on my access to the internet in rural Wyoming and how the visit goes, that might not happen. You are forewarned.
And since I'll be traveling this Saturday and next Saturday, I'll be missing the WE awards stream :(.

I'll be publishing Greenglimmer next week as usual (Jan 24), then I'm flying to the far reaches of Star Valley, Wyoming, USA to visit my dad, who's in ill health. Internet access will be iffy, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to publish Broken Dulcet while I'm there; my family prefers the middle of nowhere. I grew up in the Narrows, an unincorporated area, and in Bedford (which had ~250 people back then, most belonging to 3 families).
I'll be flying into Salt Lake, then driving 3 1/2 hours to reach my brother's place. I'm out of practice driving on crappy roads, so not looking forward to that. It'll be strange to visit; I haven't been back since my early twenties. I found it soul-killing. While the landscape is beautiful (it's south of Jackson Hole and Yellowstone National Park, so has the same kind of alpine mountain scape), the people are not. I'll be happy to sit and keep Dad company, then flee back to a better place.

Well, I live on the eastern edge of LA County, and I'm watching the city burn and wondering if the winds will spark a fire where I live. We knew it was going to be a bad fire season, as California had the atmospheric river dumping a lot of water earlier in the year, which made the foliage grow, which would dry out and become tinder later on. I'm hoping friends stay safe and a spark doesn't take root near us (and yes, the county's accidental sending of the evacuation warning scared the shit out of me and my honey).
Our firefighters are battling not only fire, but Santa Ana winds, and those are supposed to pick up again this weekend. Volunteers from other countries are here to help (Mexico, Canada) and I'm grateful to them all.
This is a strange time, as I'm writing about the effects of a fire/flood in Evenacht. It's a strange time, as Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler predicted just this (she was born and raised in Altadena, the first place the Eaton Fire ravaged). Stories, books, realities combine.

For NovelEmber, I wrote 39,673 words, finished my current Wellspring WIP and began editing! I wasn't aiming for 50K, but I'm happy with what I accomplished.

I can't say I'm hopeful about the future right now, but I did a bit of looking forward this week as a soothing exercise.
I know that Broken Dulcet will be the last book in the Jilvayna Chronicles, and the story will then switch to the Chaser Chronicles, which will follow Lapis and Patch as they chase down enemies and threats (not going into too much detail because of spoilers).
I'll publish Wellspring Dragons Book 4 in early summer along with paperbacks of all four books. I'll be working on Book 5 as well (already written, though I need to change it a bit because I shifted events that originally took place in Book 4 to Book 5). I'll add worldbuilding articles specific to Book 4 (map of Rakan, explanation of the aki n'di ori tribes, etc).
Greenglimmer will end and Book 3 of Evenacht will begin at some point (I'm a pantser, so I can't say exactly when). It'll take place in the Windtwist Islands, where Vantra and company are going to have to plunge into the ocean depths to retrieve Laken's next essence. And poor Vantra, she's going to have a lot to deal with after the events of Book 2.

Well, I spent a lot of this week on my Evenacht primer (and the rest editing my WIP), so most of Week 3's homework for WorldEmber isn't done yet. Here's a link to what I have finished so far.
I'm hoping to have it all done by the end of the weekend. I always promise I won't get behind, and as I'm falling further and further back, I wonder why my good intentions never seem to work. I always rush at the end.

My honey thinks I need to take more frequent breaks, so I'll be taking one at the end of December around Christmas. Looking forward, I want to put in two-week breaks four times a year, and a month between the end of a book and the beginning of the next one. Creative juices get ground down, and I think a healthier break schedule might help in this.

Well, I spent a lot of this week on my Evenacht primer (and the rest editing my WIP), so most of Week 3's homework for WorldEmber isn't done yet. Here's a link to what I have finished so far.
I'm hoping to have it all done by the end of the weekend. I always promise I won't get behind, and as I'm falling further and further back, I wonder why my good intentions never seem to work. I always rush at the end.

My honey thinks I need to take more frequent breaks, so I'll be taking one at the end of December around Christmas. Looking forward, I want to put in two-week breaks four times a year, and a month between the end of a book and the beginning of the next one. Creative juices get ground down, and I think a healthier break schedule might help in this.

So I finished the current draft of my WIP, Wellspring Dragons Book 4! I changed things in Book 3, and ended up rewriting all of Book 4 instead of just updating, like I planned (2 years later than I expected but I finished!). It came in at 139K! Now I'm editing; funny, how motivating seething rage can be.
I've also been working on the Lapis of Nicodem book site. Revamping character pics has been part of that. I'm working on a new card-like presentation for characters, where they will appear under their primary faction (rebel, rat, etc) rather than on a separate page. Here's some of the re-colored artwork.
I'm also excited that Ambercaast is nearing 200K views! And my World Anvil account views is up to 958K. Happy people are checking out my work! Now if I can just get all the book sites revamped and up to snuff...
And maps, so I can enter them in the Worldbuilding competition.

I don't have extras. I'm not in the a good headspace right now. It was hard to write a chapter meant to be soft and wonderful when seething rage and helplessness roared through me.
My honey and I grew up in rural America (Wyoming and Nebraska) and we know what's in store when Trump gets sworn in and they implement Project 2025. We know the hate that's been unleashed, and the numbers of people getting hurt and dying needlessly will increase. I'm donating to orgs like RAICES and the Trevor Project and the ACLU and hope we can keep the damage and death to a minimum, though right now, it feels pretty hopeless. I know how unsafe I feel as a woman. It's worse for LGBTQ+, minorities, non-Christians.
And no, I'm not overreacting. We know the kind of person who voted for Trump because we're related to them. My honey and I moved to California and cut all ties to toxic, abusive family. There isn't anywhere else to move to escape the hate that infuses them (my father told me during the pandemic he didn't care if I lived or died, all the same to him. And now people like him, who lack empathy, sympathy and basic human decency, will be back in power).

So I have my Spooktober article written. It's more dark than scary, but it fits. It still needs prettifying, and I still need to make the snippets for the prompts, but it's good for a read.
The Final Gauntlet is the trial Qira undertakes in the (NEW!) short story Falling Light. It's the final test for a Light-blessed, and if they succeed, they become the avatar of Light. That means, of course, it's a difficult and dangerous undertaking.

New Short Story and a Book Anniversary!
So, my weekend went something like this: internet was funky so it took me thirty minutes to upload my Greenglimmer chapters on Friday. Had problems uploading the short story I planned to release along with the chapters, so waited until things seemed better.
Then my coffee decided it liked being inside my gaming keyboard rather than inside the mug. Eep. And since that was my desktop keyboard, I needed to do what I could to clean it and get another hooked up...fun times, y'all!
But I did get the short story up! Check it out here. It's relevant to the current happenings in my Evenacht serial. It's dark and moody, and is Qira's origin story.
Qira vowed to destroy the Light Temple, but he needs the Light Crown to do it--which means he needs to defeat Skerezahn the Immortal first.

I've been busy this week, though I don't have a lot I can share for it. My Wellspring WIP is hopefully back on track, I'm working on paperback covers for the first three Wellspring books, I started a new Evenacht song, and I'm prepping Falling Light for Manuscripts.
I wrote Falling Light for World Ember 2023 as a prose article, but I wanted to switch it to Manuscripts as a short story. It's about Qira's ascension--something Jare reminisces about in this week's chapters.
I'm coming up on 900K page views for my account. Excited for when it gets there! I'm also excited about Ambercaast creeping up to 200K. It's now in "2nd edition" phase, where I'm going through with a fresh look-over and spell-check, but primarily breaking up longer chapters (as my vision of serials has changed over time).

Pirate Captain Drowned Dough and lawful Lieutenant Trevel realize that tourists need training to have fun during sea battle re-enactments--so create Ghost Pirate University to teach them how to pirate.

My week was mostly spent on my challenge entry, and crying because something was wrong with the article and I couldn't figure out what. I saved the writing to a test article, deleted everything, and went from there.
I've officially started the 2nd edition edits of Ambercaast, which will basically consist of spellchecking again and breaking chapters into smaller chunks (my opinion on long chapters for serials has changed since I first started Ambercaast). Not certain when I'll get it done, since I also need to finish Abyss of Dreams, my Wellspring WIP that really, really needs to get finished.

The originals I did in 2020-21 are influenced by Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's artwork; I loved the cel-shading, with highlights and shadows and not much in between. While I still love the style, I'm going back to a less minimal look for my own work.
Speaking of influences, I think my characters' eyes will forever be large, because I first studied Wendy Pini's art and, of course, most of her characters are elves with large eyes.

I had planned to do a lot more on my Summer Camp article this week, but my dad suffered two strokes and it's been a stressful, rather than creative, time (no, rural America is not a place you want to have a medical emergency. He's doing surprisingly well, considering). Needless to say, my revamped homepages are not quite done to show off for this update.

I wrote the "Through the Ages" intro primer article which briefly covers the history of the Evenacht, but I have images that aren't quite done yet. Plus I'm working on my CSS for Lapis of Nicodem. I need something science fantasy, kinda cyberpunk-y but with a dark fantasy flare. The books have taken a more tech-oriented road than I originally planned, but the dark fantasy themes are still there and relevant, and I have not come up with something that combos it all. I've been testing different looks since autumn of last year, too.

I don't have my Summer Camp Week 1 prep done yet because I'm working on my meta (my meta has spoilers so it's not available to the public. I'm making meta/primers that don't have them, and that's taking time).
Themes of change? Well, Broken Dulcet's "first night of the last night of the Dentherion Empire" definitely fits! The ending of an empire brings a lot of change, good and bad, with it.
I also am looking at Evenacht. A really big event is on the horizon, and I'm pretty certain it's going to happen in July--and it will change Vantra's viewpoint on a great many things.
Change in the real world has influenced my writing. Without the rise of generative AI and LLMs, I wouldn't be thinking of khentauree in the same way. What constitutes intelligence, and do they qualify? If Gedaavik's code changed them, did it change them enough to give them humanity? Or are they just following what an extraordinary code tells them to do?

I think I should write a scene where pollen attacks the main characters, because it sure can knock you flat and leave your head feeling three sizes too big for days. Is there a B-rate horror movie called Attack of the Pollen? There should be.
That's basically been my week.
I was going to start recording again (hahaha stuffy narrator is a no-go), influenced by fellow Anvilite MJ Keeler reading her book Blackbird Raven Crow and putting the chapters up on YouTube. I've been looking for a not-as-exploitative place to plunk my own recordings (not Audible or Spotify), and YouTube is as good as any (will probably try Bandcamp as well). I will aim to post something once a week, if I can get my energy back. I'm feeling swamped, like I have too much to do right now.
I hate planning things, then having life get in the way and crushing said plans into pulp. Fingers crossed I can get the artwork for Knavish Canto up soon.

I should have the rewrite of my Wellspring WIP done soon (I'm planning by the end of the month). Once I gave up on including all things from the previous version, the writing's gone smoother. Those scenes that didn't make it into the Abyss of Dreams will be in the next book (where, after the changes in book 3, they work better). There are times, this stuff is just hard.
And I found out that I have potential readers that are waiting for paperbacks of my series because they prefer that format to ebooks. Considering the cost of physical books right now, that surprised me. Maybe they won't be as enthusiastic when they realize how much I'll have to charge for those, just to get a dollar or two in profit.

I have done about 10K words on the Abyss of Dreams re-write this week (and deleted about the same). If you want to know where my time has gone, it's been into that. Will I make my Oct deadline? I hope, I hope.
I've also been enjoying Dragon's Dogma 2, and been disappointed in Endless Ocean. I loved the first two games, and how intimate, beautiful, and wondrous they were. This one is not that :(. There's something special about getting an up-close pic of a fish to file, that a long-shot scan that grabs a whole bunch of IDs misses. And the AI voice is awful. *sad tears*

What have I been doing this week? Re-linking my World Anvil images to my CSS code so they don't break upon server transfer. Yeah, this has taken a lot of time. Have I missed some? I bet I have. Fun times ahead, but since I'm revamping the book sites anyway, it's fine. I'll just say 'under construction' and call it good.
I also got a shiny new desktop that should speed up art/video/3D creation *fingers crossed*. I spent two days grumbling about how much I hate installing all my apps on a new machine. Some companies make this difficult because they want you to buy another license, rather than keep the current one (DaVinci Resolve, ClipStudioPaint). Frustration is not what I want to feel upon getting a shiny new desktop.

What am I stoked for this week? The new Endless Ocean game. I loved the first two because I got to take pics of sealife and plants and coral. And I'll be happy when A Thousand Year Door revamp makes it to the Switch.
I was also reminded this week about how US marines duped an AI meant to track human movement by hiding under a cardboard box Solid Snake style and creeping up on it. It's not just in video games, y'all!

My desktop has decided that apps crashing constantly is a good thing, so I haven't been able to work much on art or video recently (it's been having issues for months, but the current 5 crashes in ten minutes is a bit extreme). After Effects complains that there isn't enough cache space when I have half a terabyte. Word just spins or freezes. Games are a no-go. It takes much roaring of the fan to get art apps to draw a line, let alone switch layers. I thought maybe a Windows Update was the problem, but reverting didn't help. I don't know what's wrong with it (virus checker says everything's fine on that end) but it appears to be time to upgrade.
So yay, upgrade!
Time will tell how well that works (I read that Intel CPUs were having problems. So...we'll see). But I should have a new main art computer up and running soon, so I can get back to my regularly scheduled work pace (my laptop is just not as hefty as my desktop when it comes to running art apps).

I plan to write a short story for Adventure April. I still haven't decided what yet, and the month's nearly half over! Think think think...
So a lot of work on my art/videos have slowed to a crawl because Adobe products are complaining I don't have enough cache available to run them (this is before I even open a file). I cleared space over the amounts I chose in the settings, and they still complain. So it's been a back-and-forth between other apps, which, again, kinda slows down work. There are other annoyances with my desktop, like constant game crashes, so I'm wondering if there's something amiss with the computer. I know some more recent Windows updates haven't been kind to certain PCs, but reinstalling previous updates hasn't changed things. And yes, I pay for a virus etc checker to keep my comp clean.
So creating the covers for the paperback versions of my Wellspring Dragons has not gone as planned. I'm taking the "all things in time" approach. It all will happen when it happens.

I got a lot of work done on my Wellspring WIP. I've spent since 2022 trying to get this book revamped (because I changed Book 3, I had to implement those changes in Book 4). I was burned out after 3, and struggled to regain momentum. I'm hoping I've found a glimmer of interest again. It's funny, because I've worked on books further on in the series, so I don't know why this one has been such a grind. I had a great time initially writing it.
I finished the Glass Volcano map for the new editions of Wellspring Books 1-3. These will have paperback versions as well--a first for me. I'll probably publish through Amazon and Barnes and Noble, though the recent challenges authors have had working with IngramSpark have made me a bit wary about going through them. I suppose it doesn't matter; every one of them has gutter-level customer service.
I'm also changing titles so the first two books sound more "dark fantasy", which will hopefully help in keeping my books from being put in horror by Amazon, when they most certainly are not. Probably a lost cause, but I will try. I'm looking at "Liminal Shadows" and "Shades of Treachery". I want to keep the artwork, but I don't know if I should, since I'm changing titles.
