River Rush - Summer Camp Update 2

July of this year marks a few important milestones for Shiftrex and I here on WA:

  1. My 6th WAnniversary (which was yesterday (July 15th) and I missed it)
  2. Isekai's 6th birthday
  3. My 7th! Summer Camp
  4. And one crazy milestone that we've been waiting forever to reach!

Isekai officially broke 1,000,000 words last week! 4 days before Isekai turned 6, we finally hit the craziest milestone. This doesn't mean we're done, far from it, and you can continue to expect some crazy work in the years to come.

Summer Camp is also going swimmingly. 17 articles submitted with a handful drafted in the background. If you want to follow my journey and see some of the newest articles that made us hit the big word count milestone, check out my SC hub.

May has been a slow month for worldbuilding, but that being said, I was able to completely rewrite a couple of articles for Tillerz's Maybe Better challenge.

River Rush - April Update

April has been busy! Shiftrex and I had an amazing time on the D20 cruise with WA friends. We showed off our board game in-person for the first time during the cruise and at a local gaming convention. Finished my Rituals of Renewal entry. Overall, it has been a super productive month.

An event that has not happened in centuries, the Idyllic Sagas is the coronation of the monarch of the Fairy Kingdom, often occurring towards the beginning of summer when the forest flourishes most.

River Rush - January Update #2

January has been a very quiet month. Still catching up from the holidays and dealing with overall busyness, I haven't been able to write as much as I've wanted.
  The goal for the year is still to reach 1 million words in Isekai. After that, we'll have to see where the inspiration takes us.
  Hopefully, there will be more updates in the coming months. Happy worldbuilding :)

Happy new year!
  I'm a little behind getting this post out for the new year, but it seems like January is shaping up to be just as busy as the end of December was. While I did not reach my goal of 25k during WorldEmber, I still wrote a decent amount that I'm happy with.

  Now for the elephant in the room. I had a secret goal of finally reaching the 1 million word mark with Isekai during WorldEmber and fell a bit short. But that being said, the goal is still there, but it may take a couple more months to reach. I'm unsure of what we'll do once we reach that mark, but there may have to be cake.

River Rush - December Update #3

More WorldEmbering!
  The writing still continues! My 25,000 goal is in sight, but first, Christmas is coming. Shiftrex and I will be traveling for the next couple of weeks with limited internet access, but my iPad is ready to keep drafting while we're away. As soon as we're home and I can get my desktop going, there will be lots of new Isekai content.
  Since last week, I've completed 3 articles with ideas for many more. With a 17 hour drive ahead of me in the next few days, I hope to draft at least 5 or 6 more and surpass the 25k mark by a great deal.
  Continue letting the fires burn and seeing just how far you can go with your imagination! I will see you all in a couple weeks.

WorldEmber continues!
  As of last night, I have completed WE with roughly 13,000 words, but the fires keep burning. My pledge laid out a goal of 25,000 words, so that's what I will continue towards, but the secret goal is still up for grabs :)
  This hub article is my WE pledge, but I will also be linking Shiftrex's articles here as well. He finished his first WE article last night on the Fire Islands, home to the Nephilim.

  The fires have been lit and many of us are writing away, trying to reach whatever goals we have set for ourselves. Completing WorldEmber is my first goal this month, but I have a secret goal as well that I will share more about as we get closer to reaching it.

Institutions of Learning

My Academy of the Scroll article made the shortlist for the Institutions of Learning challenge! I was really happy to get this done, so it was awesome to make the shortlist. Thank you to everyone who has read it!

November & Beyond

For about two whole seconds, I had illusions of grandeur and my ability to complete Novelember. For my own sanity, I will not be doing that, but that means there will be more time to prep for WorldEmber! Expect prepwork and some amazing articles to come out over the next few months as we wrap up 2024.
  Thanks to everyone that has supported Isekai over the last few years and made it what it has become. I'm excited to keep writing and reach those milestones that are barely out of reach (like 1mil words!!). Happy worldbuilding everyone!

It has been a quiet couple weeks here, the creativity literally dragging its feet as I tried to finish anything at all. With a little bit of writing each day, I was finally able to finish one article this month, but I think it was worth it.
  Here's my entry for the Institutions of Learning challenge, barely finished in time to write this post today.

The Academy of the Scroll is one of many schools of magic on the Northern Continent recognized by the High Council of the Arcane, but it is by far the most free-thinking, its curriculum far more wide and diverse than any other.


  This month has been a hard one for creativity but I'm excited to try again in October hopefully with Spooktober. Shiftrex may be joining me for the event with some pixel art so keep an eye out for whatever shenanigans await us in Isekai.

River Rush - September Update #1

August was a slow month for worldbuilding but it sure ended with a bang! I try not to watch awards streams so as not to stress myself out so imagine my surprise when my Discord starts blowing up while I'm playing video games. My name was called twice on stream and I still cannot believe it.
  My article about the Physi known as Slumber won the prompt for a technology used for defense or protection. The Physi are something I loved created so I'm so appreciative that others love the fluffy little creatures as much as I do. If you haven't yet, take a look at the Slumber and their colorful brethren.

The Slumber was another discovery that followed in line after the Cerebellum was found by the Unending Scroll. The small plum-colored creature was found sleeping, giving some insight into what it may help with.


  As for the second time my name was called on stream, apparently Shiftrex and I will be going on a cruise! I still haven't fully processed this and probably won't for some time since it all seems like a dream.
  Thank you so so much to everyone who has supported Isekai and the stories that we have wanted to tell over the last 5 years. It is unbelievable how much this community cares and builds us all up and I am so appreciative to have found a community that is so loving but willing to push people to be their best.

River Rush - August Update #1

Summer Camp is over and while that is somewhat sad, it opens the doors for a lot of new ideas and projects to take place and get started before we find ourselves in WorldEmber. For those who have noticed, I have taken a small step back from Isekai the past week to work on our other world Seireitei. A lot of the framework already exists in that world but I have learned a lot in the past two years since I last worked on it and some of the articles need a lot of help in terms of formatting.
  Seireitei is an alternate universe world based on the Bleach manga and anime written by Kubo Tite. I started it towards the end of 2019 as a pet project after losing my job with the hopes that we would one day play a TTRPG in that world again. While that doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon, the hype about the anime coming back in October has made me want to work on it again. Feel free to give the world a follow, but know that it will be a bit different than the Isekai content you may be used to.
 
Seireitei

  There will be some Isekai updates and cleanup coming depending on how I feel so keep an eye out for that over the next couple of months. Also with Summer Camp being over, I plan to be consistent with these updates, normally posting weekly.

There are only a few days left for Summer Camp this year and I am super proud of what I have accomplished. While I was trying for that Feral 40, I did complete Diamond with articles I'm proud of and that feels like a better accomplishment. I still have a few articles in the works, but I may or may not get them published before Summer Camp officially ends.

  Since hitting Diamond, I have started back into a few other projects that needed some work. I am completely rebuilding the spreadsheet I use to track the now 1900 articles that Isekai has. That alone should take a couple of weeks.
  I'm also delving back into my second world of Seireitei and doing some updates as that world has not been touched since 2022. Not sure how far I will get with it but for anyone that enjoys the Bleach manga and anime, the world might be worth checking out.
  I hope everyone had a wonderful Summer Camp! And whether you reached your goals or not, every word and article you wrote this month is one more than you had before.

The inspiration has been flowing like crazy the last couple of weeks! Isekai officially reached 900,000 words and I have completed 15 prompts so far! I already have ideas for the next 5 and have started brainstorming on a few, but those will have to wait for the rest of the week.

River Rush - October Edition

With the new hashtags and all the updates to the global feed, I figured it was about time to start (attempting) monthly updates about the state of Isekai and what Shiftrex and I are up to in the Anvilspace.
 

Spooktober

Once again, I attempted #Spooktober and actually succeeded! While I didn't reach the 20 squashed stubs that I wanted, I still finished 13 great articles that added a little more life to Isekai with species. Super happy with what I did accomplish and am excited to continue forward.

More Countries

If you've been following Isekai for a while, you've probably seen the massive country articles that have been published. My husband is the brains behind those and we are still working through the larger countries on the Northern Continent. This month, he finished the Elven Kingdom which has been a hit!

The Elven Kingdom is a vast territory that encompasses thousands of miles of forest and is said to be the oldest in the world, the birthplace of life for both animals and plants. In this land, the many types of Elves stand as guardians of the forest.


 

Future Plans

#WorldEmber Prep month is upon us (tomorrow)! I will be participating in the homework that will be put out on stream and prepping myself for the big event. Overall, my plans are to finish many of the partially complete articles that I made during Summer Camp and do some more cleanup on Isekai as well.
  Shiftrex may or may not be participating in WorldEmber, but you can expect to see more countries and even possibly some Storybook content from him over the next couple of months.
